Wow, this is the 1st post this year!! I am crap! I’ve done some Twitter and Facebook posts, but nothing I thought warranted a full post. A couple of days ago, the printers returned back from another Covid lockdown and they were straight in to get the sample boxes printed and shipped!!
During Jan/Feb this year I finished designing the product. I had to fit the design to the printers template and just as I’d finished and they were about to print… a lockdown for them.
They came back to work and were straight on it, printed, pictures sent to me and then ready for collection by the shipping company.
I asked for the front of the box to be embossed and gold foiled as well as non-embossed and just colour printed to see the difference. Gold foil doesn’t fit with my sustainability ethics, but for the sample I thought I’d give it a go to see if it made the packaging look and feel the part of the glitzy ’20s! I hope people won’t throw the game away anyway, rather gift it to somebody else than throw away.
From the pictures I’m really excited to see and feel the product in my hands! It’s been a long time coming!
I added an author book inscription to add to the book feel. There is also the envelope holding instruction booklets.
There are 2 packs of cards, different packs, to allow 1-6 players to play the game. 1 pack works nicely for 1-3 players and 2 packs for 4-6 players. 2 packs of instructions, 1 general game instructions with gameplay variations and another leaflet with different games to play. It might just be the lighting, but the instruction booklets look a bit shiny. I didn’t specify paper for the instructions so I have no complaints, they look brilliant.
The above picture shows the 2 different packs of cards. After some discussions and printing issues with the previous printer, I reworked all packs to use a black background and different borders. This helps to not highlight when a wildcard is showing face down. It doesn’t eliminate it but it’s easier on the eye and should be still easy to re-pack the cards after playing with different packs combined.
After I had sent my address and they had sent me a copy of shipping note, I remembered that I’d asked for some examples of different card stock so I could evaluate which I would prefer. Thinking it was too late, I emailed and they said that they had remembered to include some packs in the box!!
WJPC or Acelion, same company are brilliant!! Communication from day 1, from the pictures I’ve seen, quality is good too. Zoey at Acelion is a superstar!
Expect an unboxing video when they arrive!! Then I can do some gameplay videos, instruction videos and update the website pics to remove my home made prototypes!
