There was a delay in printing and then I had a delay in posting, but here are the printed cards.
The lighting isn’t very good and I need to get used to my new phone’s camera but they are sooo much better than home made cards. Thanks to Stuart at Rollem for his help.
As I mentioned in a previous blog, since I was getting them professionally produced I needed to get rid of my temporary artwork(copyrighted) and use some copyright free artwork. All artwork will be credited in the final product when the artwork is finalised. But so far I’m happy with the backs of the the main 2 packs.
There are 2 slight issues with these prototypes.
Alignment
There is a slight alignment issue with the backs of the wildcards, the graphics don’t fill the back of the card and on some cards the alignment is incorrect too. Some cards have a yellow border whilst others have almost none. Stuart at Rollem is going to look at this from the files I provided.
Colour
The yellow that I used isn’t what I expected. There is a difference between how screens produce colour and how printers produce colour. That is before the fact that your monitor shows slightly different colours to mine, each monitor is different and age and use and people’s settings make everything look slightly different.
I used to colour calibrate my monitor, but they stopped making the software for my Mac. So I was expecting not to see the exact colour I wanted. Stuart is going to run me a few samples which are less yellow and more creamy coloured so I can choose.
A close up on an individual card, that almost shows the linen printed quality(I’ll get used to the camera and get some lighting sorted). It also shows that the yellow lettering isn’t quite right.
I am extremely happy with these despite the 2 minor issues. I now need to work on the box, which Stuart tells me he can prototype the inside of, the box that holds the cards. The book outer will be up to me to do for now.
And since the UK Games Expo 2022 tickets have now gone on sale I’m reading about getting a stall so I can sell some packs and promote the campaign! 3-5 June 2022 – Mark it in your diary and get your tickets and come and visit us! https://www.ukgamesexpo.co.uk/
I should have a blog post before Christmas, but if I don’t, I hope you have a good one and the best of new years! 🎄🎁🥳🍾
